Cyanoacrylate - Superglue

Slid into 3rd base, on a dirt and gravel field, wearing shorts. We won the game against the No. 1 team so I guess I'm ok with it. It probably needed stitches, but my wife used some super glue. Worked pretty well actually. I was pretty nervous about it stinging, or not working, (I had never heard of using super glue on big cuts). Wife says I was a baby...

The inventor of cyanoacrylates, Harry Coover, has stated that in 1966 that a Cyanoacrylate spray was used in the Vietnam War to retard bleeding in wounded soldiers until they could be brought to a hospital.[citation needed] Butyl cyanoacrylate has been used medically since the 1970s outside the US, but due to its potential to irritate the skin, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration did not approve its use as a medical adhesive until 1998 with Dermabond.
